From the 2012 MarketingProfs B2B Marketing Forum in Boston - see our Best Of B2B Forum for just $44.99 with coupon code FBFIVE: http://mprofs.com/fbfive "Business-to-business marketing gets a bum rap sometimes, doesn't it? And meanwhile, B2B marketers get mislabeled as boring. Serious. Stuffy people in suits. But throughout the rich and storied tradition of B2B marketing, we've seen nothing but innovation--and the desire to push ahead. So, no, B2B marketers aren't boring. And there's plenty of evidence to the contrary. In other words, B2B marketing has always been an exciting place to be -- and its history is full of people who think differently, who embrace new technologies, who try new approaches that challenge the status quo. Let's take a symbolic journey... We HAVE come a long way, baby! From the days of Mad Men to today's mobile-ized, app-filled, social-media world. So here we are today, at the B2B Forum, learning from the past but looking toward the future. And what is the future of B2B marketing? Where to next, folks? In B2B marketing today, the challenge is to embrace the amazing opportunity before us. The secret is to apply what we know from the past even as we embrace the new -- the new technologies, the new approaches, and the new tools we now have on hand. So who thinks B2B is boring? Not us... B2B marketing is an exciting place to be -- and our world is full of people who think differently, who embrace new technologies, who try new approaches that challenge the status quo. That includes all of you here today. This isn't your father's B2B. Today -- here in Boston -- it's YOURS."
